What you will study
The Certificate III in Individual Support prepares students for work in the Aged Care, Home and Community Care and Disability sectors.
The content of the Individual Support course introduces students to all aspects of a career's role in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.
Workers involved in Individual Support need the physical capacity to deal with a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.
Occupational titles include: • Personal care assistant (PCA)
• Nursing assistant (AIN) • Home care assistant • Community support worker
The Community Services diploma program is recommended for participants who have some general knowledge of the community services sector and wish to enter the sector of Community Services or further their skills or careers.
Participants may include: • People wanting to commence in a new industry sector
• People who want to continue in to further study • People who are working or volunteering in the sector and are seeking a formal qualification. • People returning to the workforce
