Master of Research - Cancer Pharmacology and Therapeutics

The MRes Cancer Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of West London is a one-year, research-focused postgraduate course which provides students with training for careers in professional environments such as the pharmaceutical industry, or preparation for a PhD in medical research.

The course places a strong emphasis on developing laboratory-based research skills and critical thinking. Through a six-month lab-based research project, students will acquire both background knowledge and practical skills in cancer research and apply them by carrying out cutting-edge research with real-world impact.

A Master of Research (MRes) is a research-based postgraduate degree that focuses more on a larger, independent research project under the supervision of an academic.

Working with a chosen supervisor in the first semester, students will design an individual research project, or propose one, aligned with current research themes within the School of Medicine and Biosciences.

During the second and third semesters, students will work full-time in research laboratories on their project, alongside doctoral and predoctoral researchers. These extended projects enable students to undertake substantial research that can contribute to research grants and publications.
