Program Description This is a creative and dynamic course, providing opportunities for students to develop in-depth textile design expertise for the fashion industry. Investigating and applying new creative directions for fashion forward, luxury and innovative design approaches for the material culture of fashion.

This is a specialist course, providing opportunities for students to develop in-depth textile design expertise for the fashion industry. Investigating and providing new creative directions for fashion forward, luxury and innovative design approaches for fashion material culture. At DMY they aim to produce versatile fashion specialists through the courses’ philosophy of exploring and combining a broad range of practical skills. Allowing investigation of materials and technical approaches across print, stitch, embellishment and knit, as well as complimentary skills in CAD, design communication, and 3D product realisation. A strong emphasis is placed on nurturing research, conceptual, creative and technical skills, coupled with the development of essential fashion skills such as pattern cutting, construction and fashion illustration. At DMU they aim to encourage students to become conversant in a broad fashion context, whilst honing their specialist textile design skills. The course encourages students to show a commitment to the practice of design that is forward thinking, innovative and original. The course believes on creating an environment of choice, allowing people to determine their own creative direction. Students will have the option to choose or mix technical specialisms, in many differing contexts, allowing students to direct their studies as appropriate to their style, context, technical skills and market focus.
