Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - English Literature (with Foundation Year)

This course is offered as a degree with foundation year - a four-year programme which provides an additional foundation year at the beginning of the degree, that will give students academic and practical experience, as well as the skills they need to ensure they are equipped to successfully complete their chosen degree. On this course there is no limit to the imagination. In small groups, and in lectures, students will develop the ability to analyse ideas in depth, challenge stereotypes and clichés, and engage confidently in debate. Students will become a sophisticated reader capable of finding hidden meanings in different kinds of texts, from epic poetry to national advertising campaigns and popular TV shows. Students will also refine their professional writing skills, and become adept at switching their style to suit different contexts.
