3-Term Pathway - Pre-Master's in Social Sciences - Continue to Master of Arts - Jungian and Post-Jungian Studies

If students hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help them gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at the University of Essex. Course length is determined mainly by students English language level (UKVI IELTS score).

Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If their course is longer than 2 terms, students will take additional modules designed to improve one or more of their English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.

Master of Arts - Jungian and Post-Jungian Studies Whether students are looking to improve their prospects of training as a Jungian analyst or psychotherapist, or learn the skills to carry out research in a related area of analytical psychology, this University of Essex unique and internationally acclaimed MA Jungian and Post-Jungian Studies will give students a deep academic grounding in Jungian and post-Jungian theory and practice.

By completing the MA course, students will develop key employability skills including thinking analytically, effective essay-writing, research methods in analytical psychology and a broader understanding of depth psychological thinking, applicable to clinical and academic work. Essex's course could lead students to study for a PhD in Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies/Jungian and Post-Jungian Studies or to work in clinical or non-clinical settings.

Topics covered on the course include: the history of analytical psychology, including key contributions made by women; intellectual precursors to, and influences on, Jung's psychology; key Jungian and post-Jungian texts; the role and place of mythology in Jung's thinking, Jung's psychology of religion.
