Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Software Engineering with Electronics (W243)
University of Westminster - Cavendish
What you will study
The course teaches the physical realities and practical use of real-world electronic components, interfaces, and systems, while also developing the core skills required to write efficient and secure code for machines and devices.
As the nature of roles traditionally associated with software and electronic engineering continues to evolve—driven by the widespread adoption of smart digital technologies—there is a growing demand across all industries for engineers who can innovate using both software and hardware solutions. Successful completion of this course enables graduates to meet that demand.
The Software Engineering with Electronics BEng focuses on the implementation and programming of the underlying hardware and system layers that power all computer systems. These range from Internet of Things (IoT) smart sensing devices and autonomous robots to gaming systems, smart home hubs, and medical imaging machines.
Throughout the course, students develop and apply both practical and theoretical knowledge in hardware engineering, supported by essential software development skills. This combination equips them to create intelligent products that can sense and monitor real-world conditions, design sustainable engineering solutions, and control hardware in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible way.
The course offers a highly practical learning experience, including laboratory skill development sessions and industry-inspired design projects, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for real-world engineering challenges.
