Master of Arts (Honours) - Classics and Linguistics (QQ81)

The University of Edinburgh

What you will study

In the Master of Arts Classics and English Language program, students will have the opportunity to combine the study of ancient Greek language and literature with linguistics and linguistic theory, with a specific emphasis on the English language. By studying Greek, students will gain access to one of the world's renowned literary traditions. They will have the chance to read foundational texts of the western tradition in their original language, which include epic, tragedy, philosophy, and history. This will complement their studies in linguistics, allowing them to explore linguistic structures in both a dead and living language.

Although the program shares a common structure with Master of Arts Classics and English Language, it places a greater focus on linguistics courses starting from the second year. Students will have the opportunity to choose their final dissertation topic in either classics or linguistics.
