Bangor University
What you will study
On this Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Modern Languages and History programme students will study History alongside a language (Chinese, French, German or Spanish, from beginners or advanced level). They will develop written and oral skills and will learn about cultural aspects, including national histories. They can choose from a range of topics from medieval to contemporary history. This joint course History will impart a solid knowledge of different nations in a variety of historical periods, equipping them with transferable skills highly sought after by employers.
All language modules include written skills (e.g. translation and essay writing) and oral skills taught by a native speaker.
Optional modules in Modern Languages allow students to gain insight into the cinema, literature, history, and culture of the country whose language they are studying. The modules available in History will sit well alongside Modern Languages modules, and enable them to focus on a wide variety of time periods, geographical areas and themes. This will enable them to follow modules that focus on the history of Wales, Britain, and Europe, as well as that of other areas.
