The Master of Science in Games Technology at Coventry University develops advanced programming skills in game engines and emerging technologies while building a strong portfolio. The course is designed for professionals in any computational discipline with an interest in games technology. It advances programming experience and skills in C++ and C# with a focus on game engines and collaborative development. It develops the key skills needed for industry-relevant roles such as gameplay programming, engine programming, technical art, or tools programming. Students engage in teamwork and collaborative projects using industry-standard version control approaches.
• Portfolio and assessment: Modules are designed to help students create portfolio artifacts that are directly aligned with assessments, including the outputs of three individual projects, a group project, and a dissertation. A high-quality portfolio of artefacts is built to support applications for jobs. • Career preparation: The program prepares graduates for a career as professional software developers and equips them to begin a career in the games industry. • Technologies and design: It advances software development skills in C++ and C#, explores game engines such as Unity and Unreal, and examines emerging technologies like AR/VR. It enhances algorithmic design skills to translate them into effective GPU and CPU programming, enabling graduates to tackle research-oriented problems with greater capacity. • Industry engagement: Students participate in opportunities such as Global Game Jam. • Local networks and events: There are many local game societies around Leamington Spa (Silicon Spa) and regular industry events throughout the West Midlands that students may attend and join. • Industry placement: Students can gain practical experience and boost their CV with an additional professional placement.
