The Motive Power Fundamentals - Heavy Equipment and Truck Repair program prepares you for entry-level roles in Truck, Coach, and Heavy Equipment repair. You'll learn to identify basic system problems by understanding motor vehicle components and operations. Training includes inspecting and testing engines, electrical, electronic, emission, drive train, suspension, steering, and brake systems per manufacturer guidelines. You'll practice disassembling and assembling components to specs using workshop skills and basic shop practices. Test equipment will be used to assess electrical circuits, vehicle systems, and apply basic hydraulics and pneumatics knowledge for testing motive power systems. Successful students will communicate effectively and accurately, use IT and computer skills to access repair data and manufacturer updates, prepare logs and documentation to standards, apply business and communication skills to enhance customer service, and complete work following health, safety, environmental laws, policies, codes, and ethical standards.
