Overview
The English Language Preparation program is a chance to improve your English language skills before beginning your pathway program. This program will you develop the required language skills to be successful in your intended pathway and degree program. 1-Semester Pathway and 2-Semester Pathway pre-sessional English are available. 1-Semester Pathway Pre-sessional English requires Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0 overall (5.0 in all subskills) and 2-Semester Pathway Pre-sessional English requires Academic IELTS for UKVI 4.5 Overall (minimum 4.5 in all sub-skills).
This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre at the University of Sussex followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Sussex. In the Pre-Master's programme, you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon the successful completion of the pathway program.
The Pre-Masters in Business, Media and Social Sciences, provides a route to a variety of postgraduate degrees at the University of Sussex. English language and career skills are combined with subject-specific modules such as social sciences, cultural studies, a variety of business skills like accounting and business management to provide you with a strong foundation for your chosen business, media and social sciences degree.
Discuss contemporary social issues, focusing on gender, feminist and queer theory, and methodology in the Master of Arts in Gender Studies.
This course is ideal for you if you: • seek to develop an existing research interest
• are in a career in which issues of gender play an important role • wish to explore a broad range of issues concerning gender.
On this course, you’ll gain a deep understanding of a range of topics, from identity and the social construction of gender to political aspects of gender and feminist research.
In the Centre for Gender Studies, we look at many areas of gender research, nationally and internationally. We are intersectional, trans-inclusive and advocate for sex workers’ rights. You’ll also become part of our active student community through the PhD seminar series ‘NGender’ and strong links with local women’s and LGBT groups.
