Master of Research - Management

University of Lancashire - Preston

What you will study

The MRes in Management is a flexible programme allowing students to focus on business and management research. This course provides an opportunity for students to understand the research process within their chosen subject area, providing a pathway to gaining a postgraduate degree that develops essential, critical and analytical skills for workplace, or doctoral studies.

The programme has been designed to be flexible, putting students and their interests at the centre of the course. Students will undertake two taught modules, at the start of the course, these will help them build a critical understanding of the research process.

The taught elements will be delivered in a block session to provide students with an in-depth learning experience that can fit around other commitments. Students will then move to a research study supported by a supervisor who will provide one to one tuition.

Students may undertake a supervised research project, either focused on a business or industry setting or solely within an academic context. Here students will apply both the theory and practical implications of research.

Students will be able to develop skills to use on future projects, both academically and within the workplace.

This course is suitable for students who would like to have a flexible approach to study and have a specific interest in business or management. The course would also suit people currently in work and those who would like to become expert in their chosen area of study.
