Overview
The programme offers full-time PhD pathways, with durations of three years respectively. As a research degree, the PhD requires candidates to make an original contribution to knowledge within a chosen academic or professional discipline.
All candidates are initially registered for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), with probationary status maintained until the first Annual Review, typically conducted between 12 and 18 months after enrolment. Progress is monitored through mandatory annual reviews to ensure consistent academic development.
The programme is designed to foster a strong alignment between a capable and motivated researcher, a well-defined research topic, and a suitably qualified academic supervisor. Given the rigour of postgraduate research, careful consideration is placed on ensuring this match.
Doctoral research spans a wide range of business and management disciplines. Previous dissertation topics have included transformational management in Eastern Europe, knowledge management in customer-driven service organisations, the development of effective call centre agents, service delivery design in professional service firms, and pricing decisions within neo-classical economic theory. Research proposals are welcomed in areas such as marketing, accounting, finance, strategy, organisational behaviour, service management, and social and economic transformation.
In addition to academic achievement, the programme offers industry-relevant recognition. Upon completion of the PhD in Business, candidates are eligible for credits toward a Black Belt accreditation in Lean Six Sigma, awarded by the International Lean Six Sigma Institute, subject to a nominal certification fee.
