In the two-semester Mechanical Techniques - Plumbing program, students will learn to:
• Identify and install common plumbing fixtures in the multi-story KUBE structure • Assemble various piping systems related to plumbing • Interpret and create drawings, estimates and material lists • Develop competencies in venting, waste and drainage systems • Examine concepts in water and wastewater systems, including operations, backflow and cross connection • Explore renewable energy systems related to plumbing • Work competently with various hand and power tools
Upon program completion, students will also have:
• Qualified for exemption from Level One Basic in class portion for the Plumbing Apprenticeship (Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development) • An opportunity to obtain industry related health and safety certifications • Certificates for IPEX 636 training and Viega Certified connections • An opportunity to complete the Operation of Small Drinking Water Systems Course through the Walkerton Clean Water Centre
