Overview

Students will learn to harness the power of digital technologies to transform financial services on the MSc Digital Finance and Artificial Intelligence, studying in the heart of London’s world-leading FinTech ecosystem.

FinTech is a rapidly growing global industry, projected to generate close to £1.2 trillion in revenue per year by the end of the decade.

From personalised banking services and products to prediction and forecasting, business intelligence and decision-making, and fraud prevention, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies are driving this transformation. Mobile payments, blockchain, and open APIs are also reshaping the way banks and FinTech start-ups compete and engage with customers.

Throughout the programme, students develop hands-on skills in AI and data analytics along with a deep understanding of finance principles and the global FinTech ecosystem. These skills and knowledge are used to explore fundamental questions such as: How can AI create the next generation of financial services? Where is crypto heading? How is competition between traditional and challenger banks shaping financial services? How are financial institutions adopting new technologies, and what are the resulting local and global impacts?

Equipping students with a future-focused skillset Through a blend of theory and practical application, students gain applied skills in AI, data analytics, the Internet of Things, cloud services, cybersecurity, and emerging digital technologies. They also gain hands-on experience with coding, AI algorithms, and large language models—building an impressive toolkit to analyse and solve financial challenges effectively.

Taught by leading academics, the course offers access to cutting-edge research on current and emerging issues. Students also benefit from guest lectures and presentations delivered by FinTech executives, offering insider insights into an industry undergoing rapid transformation.

Based in East London—the UK’s FinTech hub—students study near high-profile incubators that support thousands of digital tech start-ups. It is an ideal setting to build networks and find partners for collaborative projects and dissertations.

Contributing to the future of finance This course is designed for individuals passionate about digital finance and Artificial Intelligence who aspire to pursue future-focused careers in banking, central banking, start-ups, Big Tech, or regulatory bodies.

Graduates will possess highly sought-after skills that enable organisations to innovate while effectively managing financial and security risks in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
