University of Greenwich (Medway Campus)

What you will study

Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (Extended) degree starts with a foundation year to prepare learners for degree-level study. After their first year, they'll study the modules from the three-year course. This undergraduate degree covers areas such as structural mechanics, electrical circuits, fluids and powder dynamics, and thermodynamics. At the end of the course, students should be equipped for a career as a professional mechanical engineer in areas such as high-value manufacturing and the automotive and aerospace industries. A number of former students have started their own companies or have gone on to further postgraduate study. Students go to a range of companies and organizations of varying sizes for their placements, including large multi-national firms, government agencies, the NHS and small to medium sized companies engaged in research, analytical services and manufacturing.
