What you will study

Students will prepare themselves for a career in business or in any organisation that values an awareness of economic issues. This course is offered as a degree with foundation year - a four-year programme which provides an additional foundation year at the beginning of the degree, that will give students academic and practical experience, as well as the skills they need to ensure they are equipped to successfully complete their chosen degree. During the foundation year, students will take modules in English and Maths which will develop their core academic and study skills. The syllabus includes a year-long module relevant to their chosen degree subject, such as Business Essentials. This will provide students with a subject specific knowledge in Business which is essential for success in their degree.

BSc Business Management and Economics will give students in-depth knowledge of organisations and their environments, including their relationships to society. Students will explore key theories and concepts in economics and their application in international business. Students will gain a solid understanding of areas such as managing people, operations, logistics, marketing and business ethics. Additionally, students will learn how businesses can operate effectively in a multicultural environment. In readiness for their future career, students will learn an overview of business organisations in a global context and explore key aspects of business management such as finance, marketing and data analysis. Students will have the opportunity to practise these skills through problem-based activities and scenarios and will have the opportunity to study abroad. Students will finish the course confident in their personal values, with the knowledge and experience to solve business problems ethically, and an excellent understanding of the wider economy. This programme is dual accredited to a CMI qualification. Upon successful completion of the programme, Roehampton on-campus students, will be eligible for a CMI L5 qualification in Management and Leadership (subject to passing the required mapped CMI modules and CMI moderation. This course offers all students the option of a one-year paid work placement, to boost their employability even further. If students choose this route, they will take the placement following year two of the course, and then return to complete their degree.
