Integrated Foundation - Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Information Technology
University of Derby - Derby
What you will study
The Information Technology degree at Derby is designed in collaboration with industry and the business sector to ensure graduates develop the skills most sought by employers. The programme covers major developments in IT and provides valuable experience through an optional year in industry, supported by dedicated and highly experienced placement staff. Students benefit from studying in state-of-the-art facilities, including dedicated computing labs and a Data Visualisation lab. The course also offers flexibility, allowing transfers to other courses within the Computing portfolio after the first year. Assessment is conducted entirely through coursework, with no written exams.
Including a foundation year as part of the four-year study programme provides a head start in both academic and professional development. The foundation year allows students to strengthen skills, knowledge, and confidence, with extensive support from expert staff, before progressing to stage one of the honours degree. It can also be beneficial for those considering a career change or seeking to build familiarity with new subject areas. Degrees with a foundation year are continuous, meaning students do not need to reapply after successfully completing the first year.
