Master of Arts (Honours) - Arabic and Ancient Greek (QQK7)

Classical Greek heritage holds immense significance for Islamic thought, exerting a profound influence on Western thought since the 12th century CE. The enduring connections between Arabic, ancient Greek, and their associated civilizations render this combination of studies highly sought after.

With over 350 million individuals speaking Arabic as their primary language across a vast expanse of land spanning from the Atlantic to the Persian Gulf, it stands as the sixth most widely spoken language globally. Proficiency in Arabic not only grants access to the rich intellectual heritage of Islam but also unveils the captivating and diverse region it encompasses.

This program, offered as a joint honors degree, aims to cultivate students interest, knowledge, and understanding of both Arabic and ancient Greek. Additionally, it will deepen their comprehension of the literature, culture, and history of the classical and Islamic Mediterranean, as well as the Middle East.
