Master of International Public Policy (MIPP)
Wilfrid Laurier University - Waterloo
What you will study
The Master of International Public Policy (MIPP) program at the Balsillie School of International Affairs equips students with the opportunity to engage with leading scholars and policy practitioners in the field of global governance, enabling them to pursue their passions and transition into rewarding careers. Students enrolled in the MIPP degree at Laurier will acquire essential skills in policy analysis, effective policy brief writing, communication, and team building. They will gain insights into the operations of national and international organizations while developing professional networks. The MIPP program is a one-year, full-time curriculum consisting of three consecutive terms, with an annual intake every September. Students will complete a total of twelve courses, beginning with four required courses in the first term. These foundational courses ensure the development of core competencies in public sector economics, policy analysis and research methodologies, as well as international relations and globalization. In the second and third terms, students will select courses to fulfill one of four thematic concentrations: International Environmental Policy or International Economic Relations. The program is rigorous and course-based, integrating practical policy projects that culminate in policy briefs, small group projects, presentations, and numerous opportunities for interaction with faculty, senior graduate students, visiting scholars, experts, and guest lecturers, all of whom provide valuable insights into contemporary issues and the practice of international public policy.
