This Barrister Training Course with Professional Legal Studies (BTC PLS) provides students with an alternative way to study for the Bar, starting with a whole foundation term focusing on the fundamentals of litigation, which means that students have longer to prepare for the high stakes BSB assessments than the traditional BTC. Unlike most Bar training courses, the BTC with PLS offers a foundation term, enabling students to smoothly settle into their studies without the early pressure of high stakes external assessments. Students will first focus on the fundamentals of litigation before moving onto the flagship Barrister Training Course in the second and third term. Each element of this course is designed to enhance students' professional skills and contextualise their learning, with teaching delivered by the expert tutors who bring their expertise to the classroom. Students will also develop their core advocacy skills, learning and practising in small groups to develop their confidence and allow them to obtain comprehensive, real-time feedback that prepares them for a successful and rewarding career at the Bar. The Barrister Training Course with Professional Legal Studies is taught via workshops to small groups of students, with advocacy sessions taught to groups of six for enhanced learning. Students will experience live, face-to-face teaching which provides an important social and collaborative learning environment. Students will also gain valuable interaction with the professionally experienced tutors, who use their expertise to bring studies to life.
