What you will study
This professional MSc by Research adopts an active learning approach with a strong emphasis on real-world application to create a practical and professional course for international students. Promote in-classroom interaction between lecturers and students, as well as between peers, through activity, group discussion, role-play and projects. The course is designed to be inclusive, promoting integration and collaboration among students from diverse backgrounds.
Within the rapidly evolving, expanding and thriving global construction industries, the role of Construction Project Managers (CPM) is in high demand. The responsibilities of a Construction Project Manager (CPM) range from logistically leading / managing projects, including risks, through the project life-cycle to building completion and beyond.
Being able to negotiate issues such as environment, sustainability, resource, and material procurement shortfalls are integral to the role, and this course will prepare students to meet those challenges.
The course is designed and mapped to meet the requirements and standards set by key professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
The Professional MSc by Research provides students with a clear direction and expert guidance for in-depth, independent studies encompassing the complete spectrum of the 10 project management knowledge areas. Students will likely be expected to conduct research that delves deeply into specific aspects of these knowledge areas, potentially exploring new methodologies, addressing industry challenges, or proposing innovative solutions relevant to the field.
There is a strong emphasis on empirical research and the course culminates in an opportunity for students to complete an empirical research project that critically explores and implement theories to real-world issues. This increases student’s knowledge and understanding and improves ability to think critically and analytically while operating in a global context.
