University of Essex - Colchester Campus

What you will study

The course includes integrated work experience across various departments in Wivenhoe House, a country house hotel on Essex’s Colchester campus. With a student experience unlike any other, it may come as no surprise that the Edge Hotel School is ranked 1st in the UK for overall student satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2020 for our subject area.

At Essex students will gain the knowledge and industry connections to launch their career in hospitality management. Students will develop their hospitality skills and business management understanding to open up a world of opportunities in this growing industry. They will study topics including:

• Change management and hospitality business innovation • Gastronomy and food trends • Finance and macro-economics • Event planning and venue management • Human resources management • Digital marketing

The Edge Hotel School experience is unlike any other student experience, where they will have the best of both worlds. Not only will they graduate from a leading university* - they will develop their industry knowledge and professional skills by gaining valuable experience in Wivenhoe House, a fully-commercial 4* hotel, alongside their studies.

*The University of Essex is Gold rated in the Teaching Excellence Framework (2017).
