Loughborough University - Loughborough Campus

What you will study

The Industrial Design Bachelor of Arts (Honours) will equip students with the skills and understanding of product form, usability and interaction to develop and communicate design ideas, product styling, 3D designing, and the production and use of prototypes as a part of design practice.

Taught in Loughborough University's state-of-the-art, purpose-built £21 million Design School building, students will be able to access excellent facilities while building their knowledge and skillset of industrial design. The Industrial Design degree specializes in the development of skills and ability in the design and communication of ideas, interactions and user experiences, with a focus on three-dimensional design, product styling and form, user research, materials, manufacturing processes and the production of prototypes and finished artifacts. This will involve students concentrating on the creative form and aesthetics of contemporary and future manufactured products.

The course emphasizes the ways that products are experienced by users. Throughout the course students will be expected to apply their understanding of branding, futures concepting and the circular economy to the design of future product-service systems.
