What you will study

This degree has students' future career in mind. It enables students to take the first steps to becoming a chartered psychologist. Students' education will be supported by purpose-built research laboratories and psychological analysis equipment, including eye trackers, a driving simulator, EEG (recording brain activity) and specialist survey software.

Topics include schizophrenia, counselling and positive psychology, autism, cyberbullying and prejudice. Students will be able to tailor their studies to suit their interests and ambitions. There are opportunities to participate in original research projects and students will be supported by research-active academics.

Students will develop highly-valued skills, including critical analysis, data analysis, research, statistics and report writing. Specialised work placements will give students direct work experience – much sought-after by graduate employers.

The course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). Graduates work in many settings and many continue training to become chartered psychologists. Careers include clinical, forensic, educational and occupational psychology, social work, counselling and teaching.
