What you will study
Sport and physical activity is fundamental to healthy development of individuals. The Bachelor of Science in Sport, Coaching and Physical Education with Foundation Year will focus on understanding the development of participants in sports teaching and coaching contexts.
Graduates will develop skills across a range of sports and physical activities, gaining a variety of experience in schools, coaching settings and within community sports development contexts. Many graduates progress into careers such as a Physical Education teaching, sports coaching and working within local authorities or county sports partnerships.
The course will explore innovative approaches to coaching/teaching and encourage learners to critically reflect on their own delivery and the impact different approaches have on learners. In addition, they will develop an understanding of contemporary issues in physical education and coaching including motivations to participate in sport and physical activity as well as the barriers to participation for different abilities and backgrounds.
