Overview

Students can split their degree between the study of Spanish language and cultures and another subject of their choice. Studying Hispanic Studies at 50% will enable students to become highly proficient in writing, reading, speaking and listening to Spanish with the option of studying a second Iberian language (Basque, Catalan or Portuguese) from Year Two. Students will spend one year in a Spanish-speaking country (or if relevant, Basque or Catalan speaking region or Portuguese speaking country) as an assistant in a school, as a student at a university or on a work placement. Archaeology at 50% provides students with a solid understanding of archaeological methods and theory, combined with the study of the archaeology of specific geographical areas and chronological periods. This enables students to build highly transferable skills (team-working, critical thinking, synthesizing information and data, IT and oral skills) into any humanities degree.
