Overview

The Pre-Masters program is designed for students who do not qualify for direct entry to a postgraduate degree at the University of Dundee. This may be due to the grades achieved in their undergraduate degree, their current qualifications not being equivalent to a UK undergraduate degree, or a desire to improve their academic and English language skills.

The Pre-Masters course will equip students with the advanced skills necessary to complete their postgraduate study at the University of Dundee. They can choose to study over one or two terms, depending on their academic qualifications and English language level. The one-term option offers a fast track route to their chosen degree course and is studied over three months. The two-term option is studied over six months and provides additional academic English and subject-related support.

Islamic Banking, Finance, and International Business The University of Dundee offers this master’s degree in collaboration with Al-Maktoum College in Dundee. The University has a strong history and expertise in teaching traditional finance and economics. This degree combines the University’s expertise with the specialized knowledge in Islamic banking and finance, as well as broader Islamic studies provided by Al-Maktoum College. Few degrees of this kind exist in the UK.

Students will develop their understanding of the application of Islamic commercial law concerning Islamic financial institutions and financial products, as well as the emergence and workings of Islamic capital markets.

The curriculum covers the operations of Islamic banks and Islamic financial markets, along with the nature of risk and its management in Islamic financial institutions.

Students will engage with contemporary issues and debates in Islamic finance while gaining insights into internationalization strategies and strategic decisions in business.

This program contextualizes Islamic Banking and Finance within a broader International Business framework, focusing on international business strategies and operations on a global scale.
