Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Criminology with Psychology (LC38)

Program Description Delve into the criminal mind and define the nature of crime. This Criminology with Psychology course provides a deeper insight into criminology, discovering the psychology behind criminal behaviour. Students will focus on these overlapping disciplines, where students will take a closer look at the study of criminology and the criminal justice system, and enrich this learning through the study of psychology. Students will investigate criminal behaviour, examining the views, thoughts, intentions, actions and reactions of criminals and victims. Students decide focus by choosing units in their second and final year to create a bespoke degree to reflect their chosen interests or career aspirations. They will learn from research-active social scientists in fields including society and social formation, social anthropology, criminology, cultural diversity and social welfare. Students can choose from either a 30-week ‘sandwich’ placement or a shorter four-week placement to provide students with important work experience. Students will develop a piece of research based on a topic that interests, or aligns itself with students' future career or study plans, in the final year dissertation. This degree will provide students with the ideal platform for further specialisation in many careers, particularly in areas where a deep understanding of criminal behaviour is valuable, as well as postgraduate study opportunities.
