If students hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help them gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at the University of Essex. Course length is determined mainly by students' English language level (UKVI IELTS score).
Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If their course is longer than 2 terms, students will take additional modules designed to improve one or more of their English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.
Master of Science - Financial Technology (Finance)
The University of Essex MSc Financial Technology suite has three unique variants for students to explore so they can tailor their Masters in Financial Technology to suit their interests and goals. In addition to the MSc Financial Technology (Finance) variant, there is also the option of MSc Financial Technology (Economics) and MSc Financial Technology (Computer Science), giving students the chance to specialise in their preferred area of study.
The Finance variant of MSc Financial Technology is perfect for those with a basic understanding of coding, economics or finance. For students who are particularly looking to work in the financial services sector, especially in parts of the sector that are concerned with developing and growing new technologies for use in finance, this could be the course for them.
MSc Financial Technology (Finance) explores the new and advancing technologies that are currently being used and developed to advance the financial services sector. This includes exploring: blockchain technologies, machine learning, artificial intelligence, application programming interfaces, cryptocurrencies, mobile banking and electronic payments, P2P lending, and advisor automation.
