Master of Arts - Graphic Design and Creative AI

The MA Graphic Design and Creative AI at Middlesex University explores conceptual development, studio practice, and cross-disciplinary collaboration within the wider creative industries. Modules such as AI in Design Workflows, Design Thinking for AI-Enhanced Creativity, and Planet-Centred Design develop understanding of sustainability, ethics, and technological innovation. Shared modules in Creative Practice and AI and Business Skills for Creative Practice connect design theory with entrepreneurship. Students complete a major project demonstrating professional and creative independence, supported by optional work placements or live briefs in London’s creative sector.

The program prepares graduates to reimagine the future of graphic design, integrating generative and assistive AI tools into professional workflows to enhance creativity while maintaining critical thinking and visual communication. It emphasizes sustainability, authorship, and the cultural impact of AI, fostering a responsible, planet-centred design mindset. Students gain hands-on experience through live briefs, placements, and collaborations with London’s creative and technology sectors, culminating in a distinctive portfolio that showcases innovation, insight, and professional leadership.

Employability is supported through Middlesex’s Careers and Futures service. The program is delivered in MDX Studios’ state-of-the-art facilities, including studios for film, radio, digital media, VFX, animation, and virtual production, as well as recording studios and suites for post-production, editing, color grading, and Pro Tools. Students also engage with the creative industries and local community through partnerships with Screen London Barnet and regional studios, including Troubadour.

MA programmes feature one- and two-year options with embedded, credit-bearing work placements on live industry projects.
