What you will study
Over three years of acting class and practice-led training, students will be immersed in techniques of acting for stage and screen. UEL aims to develop versatile actors who feel empowered within screen and stage preparation and performance. Alongside lecturers, students will be mentored and taught by professional actors, directors, casting directors, filmmakers, and screenwriters, many of whom work in the industry today.
Acting for screen aspects of the course will develop students' skills in: • acting and auditioning for camera • comedy sitcom • short film making • self-tapes • professionally produced showreels
Acting for stage aspects of the course will include practical projects and productions at an east London arts venue, developing students' craft in: • acting fundamentals where UEL's modes of enquiry cover a wide range of practitioners • approaches to text • naturalism, classical and physical theatre • new writing • studio and main stage public performances
From the initial idea through to performance or screening, UEL encourages and supports an understanding of the actors' creative process. Students will be equipped with acting toolkits and trace a pathway towards creative freedom. At the heart of the experience is a focus on inclusive practice which reflects the diversity of UEL's students on their acting courses.
By the end of this acting for stage and screen programmes, students will have the skills and confidence needed for a successful career in acting.
