2-Semester Pathway - Pre-Master's Programme - Continue to Master of Science - Economics and Finance

The Level 6 Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is a two-semester programme, with guaranteed progression to a wide range of Master’s degrees at Loughborough University.

This Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is designed to prepare international students for postgraduate study in the United Kingdom. The PMP will allow them to improve their English while learning the study skills and research methods that they will need during their Master's degree studies. They will study academic modules relating to their chosen progression route. Each semester consists of thirteen teaching weeks, one reading week, and an assessment week. The weekly hours of study varies by semester with them on average studying around 18-21 (and up to 21) hours per week. Each module will have an assessment schedule, which will be completed by the end of the appropriate semester. Assessments will be designed to demonstrate learning across the individual modules of the programme and to allow them to experience a wide range of the assessment methods used in United Kingdom postgraduate programmes. Assessments will include coursework, essays, reports and other structured assignments, oral examination and unseen written examinations.

Master of Science - Economics and Finance: The Master of Science - Economics and Finance will provide students with the capability to apply modern macroeconomic, microeconomic and econometric methods in order to assess and shape organisational, government and financial policy. They will examine both the microeconomic impacts for firms and the macroeconomic implications for the global economy, and will develop advanced theoretical and quantitative skills – highly sought after by employers in financial services and government – as well as transferable skills that will be of value in a range of other business and policy sectors.
