The program emphasizes practical, experiential learning to ensure students are fully prepared to enter into the workforce post-graduation. Lakehead University's programs are continually adapted to encompass a variety of educational settings and training opportunities in two divisions: • Primary-Junior (P/J): JK – Grade 6 • Intermediate-Senior (I/S): Grades 7-12

The Concurrent Education program allows students to take courses in both the Faculty of Education and the faculty offering their academic major before taking two years exclusively with the Faculty of Education; five-year program.

Mathematics seeks hidden patterns that help everyone to understand life and the complex problems that surround them. This discipline of numbers, quantity, and space can be applied to many fields and industries, from Life Science to Finance.

As a student in Lakehead University's Department of Mathematics, students will develop advanced analytical and critical thinking skills in addition to: • Research techniques • Scholarly writing proficiency • Comprehensive understanding of mathematical structures • Mathematical proof formulation and solution skills

Mathematics is a very diverse and intellectually stimulating field of study. In addition to Lakehead University's traditional Mathematics programs, the university offers Mathematical Physics and the flexibility to combine students' Mathematics degree with a degree in Education, Economics, or Physics.
