What you will study
Program Description For students who hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help them gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at City, University of London. The course length is determined mainly by English language level (UKVI IELTS score).
Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If the course is longer than 2 terms, students will take additional modules designed to improve one or more of their English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.
Master of Science - Library Science
City’s MSc/MA Library Science aims to provide students with a deep understanding of collection-orientated institutions and services, and their relevance and impact within different layers of society.
The course examines the processes of information organisation, communication, access and provision, in order to understand how these activities can be designed and implemented to work towards individual development, organisational goals, and to support a fair and prosperous society.
The course considers the contemporary questions of library infrastructures and services, from both historical and philosophical perspectives. The focus is divided equally between theory and its application to practice. Students will benefit from a high level of engagement with practitioners, and they are pleased to welcome many leaders in the profession as guest speakers throughout the course.
