Overview

The MSc in Cyber Resilience goes beyond traditional cyber security by focusing not only on preventing cyber-attacks but also on maintaining services during an attack and ensuring rapid recovery afterward. This programme is provisionally certified by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and equips students with a powerful skillset highly valued by employers in the global digital economy, both now and in the future.

The cyber domain is vast, encompassing all digital devices and communications across all time frames. From cars and health data to social media interactions, financial information, and even electricity supply, everything is interconnected. This multifaceted domain extends beyond just technical computing, involving organisational processes, human behaviours, societal norms, and the physical environment. Ultimately, the goal of cyber resilience is to ensure that critical services continue to operate even when under attack.

This MSc programme is designed to address resilience from multiple perspectives: data, code, the individual, the organisation, and the environment. Taught by leading experts and informed by strong links with the UK and international cyber industries, the programme blends traditional cyber security with resilience thinking. It offers a comprehensive curriculum that builds expertise across various aspects of the cyber domain.

Expert Teaching for Practical Application The programme’s teaching approach has a strong applied focus, incorporating real-world insights into the learning process. Assessments are similarly practical, based on realistic scenarios where students must manage risks, attribute incidents, and configure systems. Success in these assessments requires not only meeting the immediate needs of the scenario but also critically evaluating the decisions made.

Rewarding Careers Graduates of the MSc in Cyber Resilience are well-equipped for a rewarding career in the field, possessing the knowledge, real-world insights, and practical experience that are essential for a wide range of businesses, organisations, services, and the people they serve.
