Overview

The new BSc (Hons) International Business Management degree from Derby’s Business School provides students with a comprehensive introduction to international business. The first year covers all aspects of international business management, allowing students to identify their interests and strengths. From the second year, students may continue on a general International Business Management pathway or specialise in one of four areas: Analytics and Technology, Economics, Finance, or Supply Chain and Logistics. The second year also offers the opportunity to study abroad for a semester, providing valuable experience of another culture and insight into international business operations. The Financial Markets Lab offers access to extensive global business data, supporting a detailed understanding of international economies. This degree holds accreditation from both the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), enhancing career prospects.

Globalisation has created significant career opportunities for individuals with an understanding of business from an international and cross-cultural perspective. The BSc (Hons) International Business Management degree equips students to capitalise on these opportunities by encouraging broad thinking and offering study across a wide range of subjects, including business management, economics, accounting and finance, marketing, human resource management, logistics, enterprise, IT, and technology.

Recent global events such as Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, and the 2008–2009 global economic and financial crisis have heightened interest in these subjects. These developments underscore the importance of gaining a comprehensive understanding of economic and business challenges, including their causes, impacts, and potential solutions.
