Overview
For students who hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help them gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at City, University of London. The course length is determined mainly by English language level (UKVI IELTS score).
Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If the course is longer than 2 terms, students will take additional modules designed to improve one or more of their English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.
Master of Arts - Creative Writing and Publishing
This course is designed to improve students' skills as a creative writer, particularly in the fields of novel writing and short story writing, while at the same time introducing students to the basics of how publishing works as an industry and the basic core publisher roles. For students interested in learning how they, as a writer, can engage with the publishing industry and even work within it, this course will develop the skills and experience they need. Creative Writing and Publishing MA enables students to aspire to a professional role that will match students' interests and draw upon all of their talents. City welcomes writers of all genres with recent graduates developing projects in literary fiction, fantasy, romance, dystopian, science fiction and young adult fiction.
In order to prepare students for the publishing world visiting lecturers from the industry contribute to the programme throughout the teaching year.
