Associate of Arts - Psychology

College of the Rockies

What you will study

The Associate of Arts Associate Degree is a provincial credential designed for you to explore a mix of disciplines. Most students completing an Associate of Arts will transfer to university in the 3rd year to continue in a degree discipline of choice.

The Associate of Arts Degree – Psychology means you will focus several of your courses on what you need for transfer into a Bachelor degree in this field. The Associate of Arts Degree – Psychology is a program that seeks to:

• examine global social, cultural, and environmental issues with curiosity and informed engagement; • evaluate diverse perspectives and forms of human expression with openness and critical insight; and • exhibit self-directed learning and a commitment to personal and social responsibility. • apply foundational psychological concepts and theories to explain how biological, cognitive, social, and cultural factors influence human thought and behaviour; • critically evaluate and synthesize empirical research using introductory psychological methods to draw evidence-based conclusions about cognition, emotion, and behaviour; and • integrate and communicate knowledge from psychology and related disciplines to analyze contemporary social and global issues with curiosity, ethical awareness, and cultural sensitivity.

This program starts in September and January each year. Part-time students applying in the Spring semester should select University General Studies as their program when applying.
