Master of Arts (Honours) - Linguistics and Social Anthropology (QL16)

The MA (Hons) Linguistics and Social Anthropology is a joint program that allows individuals to explore the diversity of human culture and communication, both in the past and present.

Linguistics investigates the mechanics of language, analyzing how sounds, words, sentences, and conversations come together to convey meaning. It delves into various aspects, including the everyday usage of language, the societal and temporal variations in language, and the acquisition of language by children.

Social anthropology focuses on the examination of human behavior within contemporary societies. Gaining an understanding of a particular society and its members involves engaging in participant observation, which entails immersing oneself in the community for extended periods, sometimes spanning months or even years, to share in their experiences.
