Master of Earth Science (Honours) (MEarthSci) - Earth Science and Physical Geography (FF6V)

The Earth Science and Physical Geography programme offered allows individuals to combine their understanding of both physical geography and Earth processes in order to address global challenges. The programme carefully balances the acquisition of data science, programming, and computing skills with traditional field and laboratory skills, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of geography and Earth science.

Participants in the programme will have the opportunity to learn about various aspects, including the structure and composition of the Earth, the deep-Earth processes that shape the Earth's surface and impact the landscape, and the associated hazards such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and landslides. Building upon this foundational knowledge, the programme will delve into the exploration of how oceans, rivers, glaciers, and human impact contribute to defining both modern and ancient landscapes. Additionally, the programme will examine the reciprocal relationship between these processes and their impact on society.

This integrated understanding forms the basis for leading research on global change and addresses many of the world's most critical physical environmental challenges.
