Bachelor of Design - User Experience Design (Optional Co-op) (UUE)

Wilfrid Laurier University - Brantford

What you will study

Program Description User experience (UX) designers aim to innovate by blending creativity, strategic design thinking, user research, and social awareness. To succeed, they must critically analyze how cultural, societal, economic, political, and environmental factors shape user experiences, translating this knowledge into testable prototypes and effectively communicating their ideas to diverse audiences. Trained UX professionals use various methods to enhance products, services, environments, and messages by: • Gathering and analyzing user information regarding goals, needs, and tasks;

• Creating design solutions;

• Iterating designs through prototyping, testing, and evaluation; and

• Measuring design efficiency, effectiveness, and user satisfaction.

UX professionals are highly sought after, ranking among the top 100 best jobs, due to their value across industries like retail, medicine, technology, finance, education, and government. In the Bachelor of Design (BDes) in User Experience Design, you’ll gain practical experience in labs and studios, applying your knowledge to real-world challenges. You'll develop skills in UX design, mobile app development, project management, social innovation, and entrepreneurship, and participate in community design sprint projects each semester. In your senior year, you'll collaborate in the Brantford LaunchPad with a community or corporate partner to create user-centric solutions.
