Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Media and Communication (W121)
Edinburgh Napier University - Merchiston Campus
What you will study
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) – Media and Communication (W121) is a dynamic programme that explores how media and communication influence and shape contemporary society. It enables students to develop creative skills in content creation, campaign design and strategy, and journalism, while also building an understanding of the data and analytics that underpin effective media practices.
The degree shares its structure in the first two years with the BA (Hons) Mass Communications, Advertising and Public Relations programme. This shared foundation provides students with a broad understanding of the principles and practices of media and communication before allowing them to specialise in their chosen areas.
The course also equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary for postgraduate study in related disciplines.
The programme aims to:
• Develop transferable skills that prepare students for graduate employment, including critical, creative, analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities. • Strengthen students’ understanding of academic concepts and professional practices in media and communication. • Prepare graduates for postgraduate study or employment in media and the professional and creative communication industries, such as mass communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, digital content creation and management, and international communication. • Support personal and professional growth by enhancing interpersonal and networking skills. • Connect students with industry partners through live project briefs, guest lectures, and placement opportunities.
