Students use diagnosis procedures to determine faults, and service and repair the mechanical and electrical parts of motor vehicles such as engines, transmissions (clutch, gear box and differential), cooling, engine management and suspension systems.
A Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform advanced diagnostic tasks in the automotive retail, service and repair industry. Students will work in an automotive workshop as highly skilled diagnosticians. They are responsible for diagnosing difficult faults and must be able to use highly technical diagnostic equipment and have a high level of understanding of vehicle and machinery systems.
