What you will study

Program Description Study a modern language, and examine business challenges in a global context, with our BA Modern Languages and History degree. This highly flexible degree enables students to study a modern language – choosing from Reading's core languages of French, German, Italian and Spanish – alongside your studies in business.

Choose to study one of the four core languages: French, German, Italian, and Spanish. These languages are offered at beginner’s, intermediate or advanced level, depending on students' experience. This BA Modern Language and Business degree explores the key themes and emerging challenges facing business in a fast-moving global economy.

Discover a thousand years of history from across the world, including Britain, Europe, Africa, America, the Middle East and South Asia. Throughout the degree, students will explore people, politics, revolution, culture and concepts.

Between the second and final year, students will spend a year abroad to expand their linguistic skills and intercultural understanding. Students can choose to study at a partner university, go on a work placement, or work as a language teaching assistant.
