The MSc programme is designed to develop strong industrial problem-solving capabilities rooted in mechatronics, enabling the exploration of real-world industrial challenges using the latest tools relevant to a chosen field of interest. It supports the development of specialist engineering knowledge and offers insight into how industrial organisations operate, as well as the technological challenges they face daily in remaining competitive, sustaining market share, and entering new markets.

Platform solution approaches have demonstrated success in the powertrain, automation, robotics, and instrumentation sectors. Accordingly, the MSc Mechatronics programme is structured around four specialist pathways—Powertrain, Automation, Robotics, and Instrumentation—to ensure graduates gain the critical and creative skills needed to apply advanced problem-solving techniques and produce innovative solutions across a wide range of manufacturing environments, products, and services.

Throughout the course, students develop a comprehensive understanding of interrelated concepts, facts, and principles associated with mechatronics systems engineering and technology. Intellectual skills are strengthened through the processing of advanced technical information, enabling logical deductions and informed conclusions. Practical competencies are built across key areas including computer modelling, design, development, and manufacturing.
