Yorkville University - Vancouver
Although diploma or vocational programs are sufficient to acquire entry-level positions, many management level positions require a bachelors degree. Yorkville University has developed a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) that provides a broad-spectrum business education to working professionals and entrepreneurs who seek career advancement. The BBA program is flexible and accessible, allowing students to transfer previous academic credits towards elective courses and finish in as few as 2.5 years depending on their course load and/or number of transfer credits from previous post-secondary study. The BBA at Yorkville University is not a self-directed program, where students study in isolation. Highly qualified instructors bring practical, collaborative, and up-to-date business knowledge to the online community of this program. The small class sizes and virtual classrooms allow for meaningful interactions so students develop strong networks with their fellow students and faculty.
Yorkville University’s delivery model encourages students to stay motivated, finish their degree faster, and to realize the benefits of having a degree in terms of increased salary and increased opportunities for leadership roles.
Since many of our students are working adults, the BBA program builds upon the skills acquired from a diploma and experiences obtained in the workplace, giving our graduates the managerial capabilities and problem-solving skills that employers require of their managers and business leaders. Courses are structured to help students understand a range of theoretical and functional applications in business through the following key features:
BBA students become well-versed in theoretical business concepts and skills and also gain experience applying these concepts and skills to real-world contexts.
English Proficiency: Students with an IELTS score of 6.5 (or equivalent) will enroll in Yorkville University’s regular academic program without condition. Students with an IELTS score (or equivalent) of 6.0 but below 6.5 will enroll in the regular academic program but will enroll in an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course in Term 1. (This course is a credit course that counts towards the completion of the degree. There is no additional charge for the EAP course.)
Note: Students applying after completing a diploma program or degree program will be considered for ‘block transfer’, which means the entire program is assessed and, if approved, 36 transfer credits will be awarded against the Bachelor of Business Administration Business elective courses. Students whose diploma or degree program included courses in business administration may be awarded up to a total of 60 transfer credits (50% of total credits required in the program, excluding project-based courses). The maximum of 60 transfer credits includes the block transfer. If a student wishes for a ‘block transfer’, or to transfer credits over to the BBA they must provide descriptions for each of the courses they have previously taken.
