The four-year Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science BSc degree is structured to give students a thorough understanding of the field of computer science whilst providing them with the opportunity to develop a strong theoretical grounding in Artificial Intelligence with many opportunities to put this in to practice during the course and the industrial placement. In the first and second year, students will study a range of compulsory modules which will enable them to gain a solid understanding in the fields of computer science and Artificial Intelligence. This is why in the third year, students will undertake a year in industry, which the University of Birmingham will help students to secure with one of the many industrial links. The fourth year enables students to tailor the degree to suit their interests, strengths and future career with a wide range of modules and an individual project. The University of Birmingham knows how competitive the graduate job market can be, that’s why students also learn computer programming in Java – a language widely used in business and industry that will ensure them stand out in future applications. During their time with the University of Birmingham, students will take part in group work which will allow them to develop key skills essential for both a career in industry and research.
