Sheridan College - Hazel McCallion - Mississauga
The fastest way to prepare for entry-level employment in cyber security, this program offers a fast-track pathway into a cyber security career, allowing graduates to begin working in as little as 16 months. The curriculum focuses on building practical, job-ready skills through hands-on learning, without requiring advanced mathematics. As the first public cyber security diploma in Canada, the program also serves as a strong foundation for further cyber security education or industry-recognized certifications. Sheridan’s Computer Systems Technician – Cyber Security diploma develops two of the four key skill areas outlined in the Canadian Cyber Security Skills Framework: Operate and Maintain, and Protect and Defend. The program covers essential topics such as operating systems, Python programming, cloud security, data communications, web and application security, cyber defence tools, and penetration testing. Designed with flexibility in mind, the program offers multiple intakes, course-based registration, and a combination of in-person, hybrid, and online delivery formats. Learning is supported by active industry professionals through lectures, case studies, and group discussions, along with hands-on experience using the latest technologies in a cyber range that simulates a security operations centre (SOC). A fully online learning option is also available, providing a flexible and accessible pathway into the technology field while maintaining strong instructional support from experienced professionals currently working in the industry.
