3.5-Term Pathway - International Year One - Business, Economics, Finance and Management - Continue to Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Accounting and Finance

Program Description This 3.5 term programme offers successful students guaranteed progression to Year 2 of their degree. You will study your Foundation programme at our Centre located at the heart of the London South Bank University campus.

This programme is designed for international students who do not quite have the academic grades and/or English level to start the first year of an undergraduate degree at London South Bank University, but have a stronger profile than a Undergraduate Foundation Pathway student.

All students who successfully complete the International Year One are guaranteed progression to Year 2 of a business-related undergraduate degree at London South Bank University. This programme is set at level 4, and is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate business degree in the UK.

3.5 term programmes consist of English language during the first 0.5 term although some academic content may be included. The rest of the year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks, one reading week, and an examination week. On average, you will undertake 23 (and up to 28) hours of classroom-based study per week. English Language forms up to six hours of your timetable, is compulsory for students who are below the required level for progression, and will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects as well as being taught separately if you need additional support. Students who are at or above the required English level for progression are likely to follow a reduced timetable.

This programme has an optional placement year. When students complete a placement year, they'll be awarded a differentiated degree entitled BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance (with Placement). The assessment of the placement is designed to support and accredit their experience by formalising their personal development outcomes, and by contextualising their prior learning. The production of evidence to a relevant professional body, which includes a minimum of two workplace visits over the year, will provide students with a supportive structure to work in. Regular online contact with tutors, peer-contact and placement support will be maintained throughout the year.
